Business & IT Alignment on Value: An Ongoing Endeavor

Mar 30, 2018 11:50:49 AM / by Adam Nathan

Healthy organizations create a culture of alignment around their value proposition from the leadership down.

Because organizations exist to create value, it's critical everybody is on the same page about what that value is.

There can be subtle, but costly disconnects in how different members of an organization interpret the focus and value being created by their organization - even when they work on the same projects, attend the same meetings, and sell the same products and services.

This brief video considers the following questions:

  • Does each member of your leadership team understand how their work contributes to the value proposition of the organization?
  • Why does a value proposition change over time without deliberate attention?
  • Why is it hard to get team leadership on the same page?
  • How do you actually know that the value proposition is understood and shared by all?

Ultimately, the CEO is the owner of the value proposition - and must be its chief evangelist.

It matters that the CEO’s vision for value creation is shared by the leadership team - and beyond. Because teams don’t stay on the same page without deliberate effort, a high functioning team periodically checks for disconnects.

We discuss this process.
